Welcome to our council tax website, where you will be able to find further information about your council tax charge and the services it helps to support, how to pay your council tax and more about Essex County Council's budget.
This year, our share of your council tax has risen by 4.2%, the second lowest increase since the introduction of council tax in 1993 or just 82 pence per week for a band D property.
We are proud that, despite the low government grant of 2% that we have been given to pay for services across our county, we have managed to keep this year's increase so low. This has been helped by our ambitious value for money programme which is well on the way to realising £100 million of savings. We will go further and redouble this programme over the next three years in order to realise a further £100 million of savings.
At the same time we continue to deliver high-quality local services that are amongst the best in the country.
However, we are far from being complacent and have recently launched 'EssexWorks', our programe to provide the best quality of life for everyone who lives or works in Essex.
We want the best for you and your family and we are determined to deliver an excellent level of services whilst providing the best possible value for money.
That is our commitment to the people of Essex.
