What would happen if your business were involved in a major incident?

In these uncertain times, it makes sense to plan and prepare your business for the unexpected. Local Authorities in Essex works under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, which seeks to promote Business Continuity.

Some companies already have well-developed contingency plans in place, so should you have a business continuity plan?

Three very good reasons why you should have a plan:

  1. 80% of businesses affected by a major incident close within 18 months.
  2. 90% of businesses that lose data from a disaster are forced to shut within 2 years.
  3. 58% of UK organisations were disrupted by September 11th. One in eight was seriously affected.



Where do I start?

First of all, look through the BC Assessment for a list of what needs to be considered. Next, all you have to do is go to the Business Continuity Booklet and simply follow the five-step guide.
