The Traffic Control Centre was officially opened on 19th July 2004, with the aim to tackle congestion on the Essex Roads, which is the top priority for Essex County Council. In line with government transport policy, network expansion is no longer considered to be an effective solution to congestion, so the Traffic Control Centre was devised to manage the existing network and provide a service to the public, not previously offered. The centre can provide Travel Advice and Traffic Information to the public.
The Traffic Control Centre is open Monday to Friday - 7am to 7pm.
