The Traffic Control Centre Operators use a number of systems, and communication links to obtain, record and report on any traffic incidents and patterns such as congestion ’hot spots’, as well as monitor any congestion resulting from a road traffic accident, from ongoing roadworks or for something as simple as a broken down vehicle. The Operators can then pass this information onto the Essex public. The Operators will also keep the public updated on any major roadwork schemes and events, such as town carnivals or music festivals that may have an effect on our roads.
With regular contact with County Council Area Highway Offices for Roadwork Information, Essex Police and Motorway Police control for any road incidents i.e. accidents, congestion etc, that take place, the Centre can react and notify local radio stations as soon as possible so they in turn can relay the information to the public. The Centre also informs local bus companies, Essex Ambulance, and has established good third party relations with TrafficLink, ITIS, Highways Agency and many more organisations.
