Please read the information below to help determine whether you may be entitled to home to school transport assistance for your child. The information below covers students (aged between 11 - 16, ie school years 7 - 11) attending selective secondary schools.
Policy
The County Council will make provision for the transport of children to selective schools who reside 3 miles or more from the school as measured by the nearest available route whose family is in receipt of Income Support or whose gross taxable income is less than £16,190.
Free transport will be provided for those children for whom the selective school is the nearest secondary school to the home address as measured by the nearest road route for those who meet the 'qualifying distance' criteria.
How to apply
You must complete an application form in order to apply for transport.
Please ensure that your application is fully completed and that you have provided evidence where it is required to support your application or to provide us with evidence of your benefits.

When applying for transport to selective schools from Essex County Council, you will need to provide up to date income/benefit evidence to support your application. If evidence is not provided with your application it will be refused.
