If you have answered yes to all the above statements then you can apply for Post 16 Transport Assistance from Essex County Council. Unlike transport in years 7 to 11, there is a charge for transport in years 12 and upwards. The charge is set at £485 for the academic year 2010-11.

If you currently have, or have previously had, a Statement of Special Educational Needs...
You will continue to be statemented Post 16 if you are staying on at your Special Educational Needs school. In the majority of cases, you will continue to be entitled to transport.
You will no longer have a statement if you have decided to move onto college.

You may be entitled to have the £485 charge waived. If you are entitled to receive EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) you will not be required to pay the charge of £485.
