What can I do with ELAN?

• OUR CATALOGUE of all the items held by libraries in Essex. The search facility lets you find exactly what you want - whether a particular title, items by a favourite author or everything about a particular topic.
• RESERVE IT - When you've found something you like the look of you can reserve it. This is a free service for the items we hold in stock and when your chosen title is available it will be sent to the library of your choice for you to collect.
• If you want an item that is not on the ELAN catalogue we may well still be able to get hold of a copy for you. Please fill out the Interlending Form with the details of what you want.This is a charged service.
• YOUR ACCOUNT - view your own details including what items you have on loan and any charges outstanding.
• RENEW the loan of the items you have for a further period online (unless someone else has reserved them and for a maximum seven times per item)
• SAVE a particular search you have carried out so that we can automatically let you know whenever we have new items in stock in your particular areas of interest.
•  You can use ELAN via the internet or at the public computers in our libraries.

As well as allowing you to borrow and reserve items from our catalogue and manage your loans, your ELAN card enables you to make full use of other facilities:

• Book a session to use a computer in the library
• Choose and borrow from our selection of e.books
• Free access to valuable online information sources in the Essex Online Reference Library
