This series of packs has been developed by the Road Safety team to target parents and their children at key stages of their development.

'All About' Pre-School Pack

This pack is sent to all 3 year old children in Essex through the Health Service, which holds information on everyone registered with a doctor.

Developed to be used by parents with their child to help teach them about Road Safety.

Each pack consists of:
A large envelope containing a workbook, height chart, "Prepare Them for the Road" and leaflets with information on seat belts and other issues.

'All About' Pack one

Pack one is designed for 5 year olds and is supplied to every child as they start school.

Each pack consists of 3 full colour children's worksheets covering:

in the car, playing safely, getting about

Each sheet has a story and activities for parents and children to do together.

An A3 black and white street scene poster for children to colour and complete using the ideas in the activity sheets.

A full colour parent's booklet explaining the problems faced by five-year olds and shows parents how they can protect their children.

'All About' Pack two...Take Me to Your Parent

A resource pack for parents and 7 year old children which includes an activity book for children, an information book for parents and a "Charter" for parents and children to jointly agree how they can help keep themselves safe while walking, cycling and travelling in the car.

The pack covers:

The child accident problem rules for crossing roads, route planning, simple bicycle maintenance and safety as well as travelling in cars.

'All About' Pack three

Aimed at 10-14 year old children, the pack comprises:

A leaflet giving information to parents about their children as pedestrians, car passengers, cyclists and bus or coach passengers.

A spiral-bound journal for children containing advice on various aspects of Road Safety each month.

'All About' Pack four

Aimed at 14-17 year old children

An A5 booklet for students, giving them information on such issues as personal safety whilst out and about and the effects of drugs and alcohol.

An A4 advice booklet for parents about how they can help their children with problems that they might face on the road.

Teachers' notes are available from schools that wish to use the packs in PHSE or tutor times.
