Following extensive consultation with stakeholders, Government and members of the public, we have now published the Second Essex Local Transport Plan (LTP2) to cover the period of 2006-2011, and have submitted it to the Department for Transport and the Government Office for the East of England.

The Plan concentrates on showing how we will deliver the ‘shared priorities’ for transport. We have set transport in its wider context by presenting the unique challenges found within Essex. The Plan sets out how we will meet these through our transport strategy, and deliver value for money.

We started with five Area Strategies, devised to give both a regional and local perspective to our transport strategy, and these Strategies come together within the document to impact positively on the whole of Essex. We believe this area-based approach will provide solutions tailored to the needs of the individual areas, help ensure improved partnership working (especially in the area of land use planning) and allow us a better position to deliver local improvements from.
