All Centres (excluding Braintree, Canvey Island & West Mersea) are open standard times.
Weather warning: Please be aware that sometimes Recycling Centres may be affected by bad weather conditions. This means they may have to close at short notice because surfaces are too slippery or it's too windy to allow safe access. If in doubt, please call the Waste and Recycling helpline 0845 603 7625 for an update on the situation before making your journey, or save your visit for another day.
Here, you can find out the normal opening times for Recycling Centres, the opening times for the new Braintree Centre from 30 July 2010, Canvey Island and West Mersea (which are slightly different due to local conditions), plus the opening arrangements for Christmas and the New Year, the Easter holiday, as well as Spring and Summer Bank Holiday Mondays.
Please note that the Shalford Centre will close at 5 p.m. on 29 July 2010 and the new Braintree Centre in Springwood Drive will open at 9 a.m. on 30 July 2010.
Normal opening times for all Centres, except Braintree, Canvey Island and West Mersea
With the exception of the Christmas and New Year holiday (see below), the Centres are open Monday – Sunday, seven days a week, all year at the following times:-

Between 1 March and 15 October - open 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. (normal hours)

Christmas Eve, 24 December - open 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Christmas Day, 25 December - closed all day
Boxing Day, 26 December - closed all day

The Centre is closed on all Sundays.
Christmas and New Year holiday, West Mersea
On Christmas Eve the Centre will be open from 8 a.m. (not 12 noon). If any other day when the Centre is open happens to be a Monday or a Saturday, the opening time will be 8 a.m. (not 12 noon), or if it happens to be a Sunday, the Centre will be closed all day as usual.
