The County Council is involved in a number of initiatives to improve air quality in Essex. The Environment Strategy team works with various departments from within the County Council, along with the Borough and District Councils, to adopt a focussed approach to addressing air quality issues across the county. These organisations work together to develop and implement plans to improve air quality around the county.

The County Council is also involved in the Essex Air Quality Consortium, which acts as a meeting point for those involved in air quality management and coordinates the monitoring of air quality around the county.  The Environmental Strategy team are also involved in raising awareness of air quality issues and how the public can play an active part in improving air quality in Essex.
