Support for minority ethnic children

There are almost seven thousand bilingual pupils in Essex, speaking one hundred and seventy different languages.

We ensure that there is a greater awareness of their needs within schools by giving teachers greater confidence and competence in providing appropriate support.

A further important part of our work is to assist schools in tackling racism and promoting intercultural awareness.

You can find more information about this work in our Ethnic Minority Achievement service (EMAS) leaflet, accessed via the link on the right.
