The final version of East of England Plan has been approved by the Secretary of State and was published on the 12 May 2008.
The Plan sets out a Regional Spatial Strategy to guide the future planning and development of the East of England region to the year 2021. It has policies for new housing, economic development, the environment, transport, waste management, culture, sport and recreation, and mineral extraction.
The Plan contains targets for the Essex districts for the provision of new homes and jobs to 2021. It also contains strategic policies for the key urban centres of Chelmsford and Harlow, and the following sub-regions covering Essex,
