Essex has a road network that is approximately 4,660 miles in length and over the next ten years traffic is expected to grow in line with national trends by about 20 percent.
Our aim is to reduce dependence on the car by encouraging walking and cycling through the provision and maintenance of a reliable highway infrastructure. As well as a number of new safety initiatives, we are also adopting new parking enforcement powers to ease congestion and free up areas for short stay parking.
